CleanAndGreen is a regenerative program which provides mentorship and green job training for inmates of correctional institutions, returning veterans, and youth at risk resulting in their successful placement in career-oriented green jobs.
CleanAndGreen is a multi-phased and transformative program developed in conjunction with a growing community of high-stakes organizations and individuals in the sustainability, mentoring, and restorative justice fields, and is directed by Natural Capitalism Solutions, a Colorado-based, 501(c)(3) non-profit, with extensive experience implementing sustainability solutions in companies, countries, and communities around the world.
CleanAndGreen Job Training and Mentoring Initiative forms an integral part of a larger initiative known as "Regenerative Communities."
What we see:
Together we stand looking in the mirror; the mirror of our world and of our natural environment, the mirror of our lives and the mirror of our communities.
What is this mirror telling us about our past choices? Together, through the CleanAndGreen initiative, we address the inner and outer imbalances and make a firm decision to add another chapter to our story, and to make it a story that is good in the end despite the past. We choose to make our individual and collective failures the very ground upon which we will rebuild our strength, and rebuild our world.
We are ready for a new day. Ready to begin again... wiser.
What we feel:
Meaning. To underestimate meaning and its impact on our lives is to be blinded to what drives a people and a society. Participation in something larger than oneself is a fundamental driver of human choices, both good and bad. To reawaken positive meaning and myth is to rediscover positive purpose, meaning and compassion. It is to find a compass, it is to draw a map. With these tools, if that map is large enough and if that compass true enough, a bold journey is being undertaken, one which transforms the individual and in turn, the world.
What we do:
With these elements taught in a phased program by a group of renowned and experienced teachers, CleanAndGreen gives a new lease on life to participants and friends by taking them by the hand through each phase, and instilling in them all the skills they will require to transform their lives for the better. We are creating group projects that bring diverse groups of people together to work in creative and rewarding ways.
How it works:
CleanAndGreen provides at-risk individuals with job training, preparation, and support for successful green jobs and careers. Through creating communities of meaning, through providing mentorship, initiation, purpose and work skills, CleanAndGreen catalyzes members of the prison population, returning veterans and at-risk adults to become the very forces of change in areas where our planet needs it most. By training participants to become mentors, a restorative, self-perpetuating culture can arise, becoming a force for change in the areas where our society needs it most. By turning participants towards the timeless values of their own life and community, a powerful force is released, which makes each day one of new possibility and creativity.
